*For all prospective music majors and minors*
UMSL Music strives to create a nurturing learning environment, while constantly assessing the needs of its students, the community, and the music profession. A degree from the University of Missouri-St Louis means being part of a family of talented students and faculty. The following steps outline university admissions and audition information. It is strongly recommended that all audition appointments be scheduled prior to March 1, of the spring semester prior to your enrollment.
Step 1: Apply to the University of Missouri-St. Louis
Step 2: Schedule an audition
All music majors and minors must complete an audition.
Schedule an in-person audition by emailing the instructor listed below for your area of interest. You may also email firstname.lastname@example.org to be directed to the correct professor.
Step 3: Prepare audition, see instructions for each area below.
Some areas may accept or prefer an audition video. Please contact the faculty member listed for each area for more information.
Step 4: Receive acceptance letter.
Upon acceptance, you will receive a letter with the details of your acceptance.
During the summer prior to your first semester, you will be contacted about scheduling a placement examination for music theory classes.
Ensemble chair placement auditions take place during the first week of the semester.
