Mark Blackmore retired after thirty-one years of band directing in the Wright City and Washington, MO school districts. He has been teaching part of the trumpet studio at the University of Missouri - St. Louis since 2015. He performs with the Saint Louis Wind Symphony and the Compton Heights Concert Band. He was a featured guest soloist with the Ambassadors of Harmony in Munich, Germany with television coverage across Europe on Bavarian State Television.
Mark studied with Dr. Betty Scott at the University of Missouri - Columbia, receiving his Bachelors and Masters in Music Education, and earned a performance certificate. He is a member of Phi Beta MU, a professional music education fraternity, a member of the musician’s union, and has served on the All State Band adjudication panel for the last 25 years. He proudly served as an off-site bugler for the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program at Jefferson Barracks.
In his spare time he volunteers at local high school and middle school band programs. He also reviews high-end audio products and limited edition vinyl reissues for the online magazine The Audio Beat.
