*For all prospective music majors and minors*
UMSL Music strives to create a nurturing learning environment while constantly assessing the needs of its students, the community, and the music profession. A degree from the University of Missouri - St Louis means being part of a family of talented students and faculty. The following steps outline university admissions and audition information. It is strongly recommended that all audition appointments be scheduled prior to March 1 of the spring semester prior to your enrollment.
Step 1: Apply to the University of Missouri-St. Louis
Step 2: Schedule an audition
All music majors and minors must complete an audition.
Schedule an in-person audition by emailing the instructor listed below for your area of interest. You may also email firstname.lastname@example.org to be directed to the correct professor.
Step 3: Prepare audition, see instructions for each area below.
Some areas may accept or prefer an audition video. Please contact the faculty member listed for each area for more information.
Step 4: Receive acceptance letter.
Upon acceptance, you will receive a letter with the details of your acceptance.
During the summer prior to your first semester, you will be contacted about scheduling a placement examination for music theory classes.
Ensemble chair placement auditions take place during the first week of the semester.
