*For all prospective music majors and minors*
UMSL Music strives to create a nurturing learning environment, while constantly assessing the needs of its students, the community, and the music profession. A degree from the University of Missouri-St Louis means being part of a family of talented students and faculty. We offer six undergraduate degrees, two minors, master in music education and a performance certificate. The following steps outline University admissions and audition information. It is strongly recommended that all audition appointments be scheduled prior to March 1, of the spring semester prior to your enrollment.
To request more information about the Department of Music, please click here.
Step 1: Apply to the University of Missouri-St. Louis (click here)
Step 2: Schedule an audition
All music majors and minors must complete an audition.
Schedule an in-person audition by calling (314) 516-5980 or the instructor listed below for your area of interest.
Step 3: Prepare audition, see instructions for each area below.
Some areas may accept or prefer an audition video. Please contact the faculty member listed below for more information.
Step 4: Receive acceptance and Scholarship letter.
Upon acceptance, you will receive a letter with the details of your acceptance. A letter announcing your scholarship award will follow shortly. You must sign and return the Scholarship letter to the UMSL Music Office. Music awards are not accepted on line. It is imperative that you sign this form, as this is how we will know that you are accepting our scholarship offer(s).
Step 5: Return your scholarship letter to the Music Department.
During the summer prior to your first semester, you will be contacted about scheduling a placement examination for music theory classes.
Ensemble chair placement auditions take place during the first week of the semester.
