The University Orchestra is open to all students at University of Missouri-St. Louis with orchestral experience. Members of the Chamber Orchestra present concerts several times each semester. Repertoire includes a variety of musical styles with primary focus given to music from the Baroque and Classical periods. In addition to standard concerts, the Chamber Orchestra participates in collaborations with other talented students and faculty. The ensemble typically gives two concerts per semester, as well as an additional concerto concert in the spring, which features the student winner of the Department of Music's rigorous concerto competition. In 2013, the University Orchestra collaborated with the UMSL University Singers, Dance St. Louis, the Nashville Ballet, the Bach Society of St. Louis, and the St. Louis Children's Choir to present a highly acclaimed production of Carl Orff's modern masterpiece, Carmina Burana.
